Ah puppy breath.......is there anything better?

A loving home for our puppies is the goal here at Sedoso.  Oh, sure, champion dogs are wonderful.....but titles don't matter if the puppy isn't loved.  That's why we take so much time and effort in making sure our puppy is a perfect match for you.

Sedoso puppies come with an unconditional, lifetime guarantee.  If for any reason, during the dog's life, you wish to return a Sedoso dog to us, you may.  You don't have to justify it to us and we'll give you your purchase price back in full.  People have told me I'm crazy for doing this.  I think it speaks to the essence of Sedoso Havanese.  We are ultimately responsible for these dogs.  Like everything else, we take our dogs seriously.

To prepare our pups we socialize them.  That's one of those words everyone throws around, but what does it really mean.  For us, it means many things.  First, our puppies are born in our bedroom.  During their Neo-Natal period we handle them daily, weighing them and checking on their well-being.  We also stimulate them using the "Bio Sensor" program developed by the military for working dogs.  Research shows puppies who are stimulated for 3-5 seconds during their Neo-Natal period are more active, more exploratory, calmer, and less distracted.  They also respond to stress better when they are older.  This helps our puppies handle changes with a good nature rather than with fear.

During the transitional period, we stimulate them with new and different toys in their whelping box.  We move them to different surfaces each day for a few minutes and we begin playing "dog show" noises (Thanks Nancy :))

In the awareness (identification) period we use a variety of sights and sounds to stimulate them, always keeping a stable environment.  During the 3rd week we use sudden loud noises to stimulate their startle response PRIOR to the development of their fear response.  This helps them learn sudden noises aren't something to be afraid of.  It comes in handy during a thunderstorm.  During this time they also spend large amounts of time with older dogs.  They now learn they are dogs, social order and sexual imprints.  Poorly imprinted dogs will have problems being a "good dog" in the future.

The second awareness period is spent with mental and physical challenges.  They live and cope with frustrating situations and learn the checks and balances of emotion.  Chasing balls, tug of war, fighting with littermates, we have it all!

Of course during this time the puppies are a part of our lives too.  From the master bedroom they move to the living room.  When they are old enough to leave the whelping box, they live in an ex-pen.  Right in the middle of the living room.  They play with kids, adults and dogs.  They hear the TV, the door slam.  They sit in laps and get lots of love.  They are a part of our family.  Hence the reason we are so picky who gets to take one home.

Finally....what makes us a top breeder (other than our unmatched pedigrees) is all of our dogs are health screened.  The health and quality of our bloodlines is legendary.  Dottie is a member of the Havanese Research Team and comes from a healthy, health tested line.  Jake is a Bydand dog.  That pretty much says it all.  His lines are health tested back 5 generations and more.  He's been health tested and passed all tests.  As one of the top Havanese in the country, we are sure you'll like his kids.  For more information about Havanese health issues and see what we are doing to help, click here

So, click here and send me an email.  We're looking forward to meeting cool people who'll love our pups.
